Reduced Construction Time and Costs - SIPs Save You Money!

"More Savings"
  • Reduced construction time
  • Quicker dry-in time
  • Less job site waste
  • Less pilferage of building materials
  • Greater flexibility in making job site changes - window and door locations can be easily changed if not precut.

A home designed for panel efficiency is usually 5% to 10% less costly to build than a stick frame home if comparable R-value, efficiency and strength are specified. When all things are compared, panels are more affordable than stick building. Panel homes are vastly more energy efficient, stronger, more quiet and draft free than older technology systems, like stud framing with common fiberglass insulation.

The rigid EPS foam insulation is used for its inherent efficiency and lack of air movement. Their solid core eliminates the “chimney effect” that causes fires to spread quickly through hollow conventional-built walls. And EPS foam is safe - if it does burn, it gives off the same by-products as wood.

SIPs also offer savings in ecological terms. By minimizing the use of dimensional lumber, panels can reduce stress on old-growth forests, and the energy efficiency of the SIPs panel system reduces dependence on non-renewable fuel resources. SIPs structures are far more comfortable and economical to own and operate than conventional structures. While this is certainly important in owner-occupied structures, it also makes structures much more attractive to lenders, tenants and buyers as well. Perhaps even much more important in today’s construction industry is speed and simplicity of construction.

As a result of high-energy savings due to the insulating performance of these homes, the U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency (see EPS/DOE Energy Star Program) are supporters of the use of SIPs in housing construction. These homes can qualify for up to 100% financing with no down payment.
